Rick Santorum; Is He Really the One For Us Christians?

What I respect the most about Rick Santorum is that he is who he says he is. He is a conservative, who has a conservative record, who is campaigning as a conservative and is not ashamed or moved by what the establishment wants. I am not looking for a perfect candidate, it does not exist! However, you look at Obama and he is dangerously liberal, but he runs as Christian. Romney is all over the place; he is running as a conservative, but his record positions him closer to the left. Newt sounds conservative, but he also has a record that many times does not match what he is saying now. I feel that Ron Paul is also honest in his believes. Perry, Cain and the others were not ready to be President, period.

If America wants style and to keep the extreme left alive, they can keep Obama. If America wants a rich white man, Romney is your man. If America wants to show how sick they are of the Government, no doubt that Paul is the way to go. If America wants someone who sounds smart, there is no candidate smarter than Newt. If America wants a conservative, currently Santorum is your only choice. In Santorum, we have a man that is not charismatic, a man that is not a great speaker, a man with no money to compete against Romney, but a man that is not ashamed of what he stands for. Santorum seems to be the closest candidate to our Christian values, but is he a true born-again Christian? Is he the one or shall we wait for another?

A Prophetic Look at Politics in the United States

The time has come for us minorities to become unpredictable; as is the same for us Christians. It is assumed that if we are minorities we will vote Democrat and if we are Christians we will vote Republican. Where did that concept come from? Who created that awful reality that causes people not to look at the facts? I say the media has played a crucial role in shaping people’s minds to think this way!

Honestly, what is Bush’s legacy? What did he do for our nation in eight years? Can we truly justify the Iraq war? Was it he who kept us safe? How dare we take glory from the only One that can truly watch over us when Homeland Security has no clue of what is coming next? What of Obama? He had the whole Congress and Senate as democratic for the first two years of his presidency. Are we in better shape financially than we were during Bush’s years?  He told us that he “could,” but now he continues blaming Bush! Our dear President goes around the world apologizing, bowing down to men and being “nice” to the Muslims, how is that going? I am tired of these Presidents stating that they are Christians, but in their decision-making they show very little Biblical knowledge as they arrogantly engage in Middle East peace talks and they show very dangerous policies against the land of Israel.

Who is going to ask the right questions? For sure not our biased Media! Who is going to go beyond the color of their skin and family traditions and stop voting one way just because? When are we going to open our eyes? Who is going to finally admit that we have a leadership crisis in this country? Are we so blinded by our own emotions and preferences that we can’t see that we were bad, but now are worse? Are we that fanatical?

And what about those so called conservative talk-show hosts? How can they be allowed to talk so much and given so much credibility? How can they be considered so smart and act as if they have all of the answers, but none of them have ever run for Public Office? Yes, I am talking about Rush Limbaugh, Hannity and many others. We truly need God in this nation! He alone is our hope and our salvation; nevertheless we continue to turn our backs to Him day after day, year after year, election after election.

The fever lasted just for a little while after that of September 11, but our own leaders encouraged us to go back to normal, go back to shopping, back to live our lives. They started singing that they were proud to be Americans instead of repenting and asking God for mercy. They speak about America as exceptional; what an arrogant and self-focused manner of looking at ourselves. Do not they know that God resists the proud? If we are going to glorify something, let’s glorify in the amazing pouring of God’s blessing over our nation, for it was Him who did it!

The Government has failed us; that includes Democrats and Republicans as well as the governments of great nations and empires. What happened to the Greeks, The great Roman Empires, Spain, the great Egypt, Ancient Europe and many others? The Government goes too far as they place themselves in the place of God as the hope of the people. Now, people desire disability and no longer go after God for healing. Why get healed when they can get a check every month? They are misusing the money of hard working Americans who pay for their Social Security; no doubt that for many of us there will be no Social Security outside of God, for the Government has been stealing our money. Program after program, billions after billions spent, bailouts that did nothing for our economy, taxes taken from our checks amounting to ridiculous amounts.  Are taxes really fair? Some must decide between buying groceries and paying the electric bill, while others speak about millions like we do a few dollar bills. And no, we can’t blame the government for much, for we also decide to continue to buy things that we don’t need, can’t afford. Yet, because we want them, we go for it.

It is time that we open our eyes, stop taking what the Media states as facts, stop worshipping these radio host personalities, stop giving credibility to our new civil rights leaders who walk around with ecumenical titles; they are nothing but false prophets. Stop taking the words of many of these TV evangelist and pastors as the Word of God; their prosperity messages are heresies… stop! Stop and get in your prayer closet, humble yourself and cry out to God. That is our only hope for the turning of this nation. I know He is the King of kings; I know He is the Lord of Lord, the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega, but what if we voted for Jesus to be our President, to be our Lord, to be our Leader, to be the Master of hearts and the One who runs our lives?

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Imperfection in Politics

We have a very imperfect President who replaced another imperfect President. As of today, January 24, 2012, we have four imperfect people trying to be the new President of our imperfect nation. My issue is not the imperfection of my leaders, my issue is to see the press, whom by the way, is filled with imperfect people also, selectively decide whose imperfection to make public.

The Character of God and American Politics by Jody Hines Royals

I think I would have to say that God is Independent. He sent His Son who came to earth and didn’t follow any set pattern; in fact, He set His own pattern and said “Follow me.” He had liberal views in that we should reach out and tangibly care for those we see in need, but conservatively states in Proverbs that “a lazy man shall NOT eat.” Jesus challenges us to be thinkers and certainly not man pleasers. Liberals tend to be “man pleasers” in order to get the majority vote…they never want to point out that murder through abortion is WRONG as it is still murder…they never want to point a finger stating that a parent is being too selfish by chasing their own self-centered desires running the roads instead of staying home and raising their children to be responsible contributing members of society as they age instead of placing the blame on ADHD…ADHD is really an acronym for “Absence of Discipline Heeds Destruction.” Jesus would scold the conservative so centered on “providing materially” for his family instead of providing quality time and devotion to his family and would remind him that God is the provider of ALL we have or own and that it can all be taken in an instant…man has no control over his wealth or health.

Is God Republican or Democrat?

I must first admit that I am not an expert in politics however; I do enjoy the subject and have studied this topic. I understand enough to know that politics affect our lives; therefore I like to pay attention to what is going on in this area. I also see that we have a great need to stop viewing politics as a generational and racial thing: “My dad is republican so I must be Republican.” “I am a minority so I must follow Obama.”

American Politics 101 tells us that the Republican Party and the Democratic Party are different in their perspectives of how the government should carry out their duties. History has also told us that throughout the years these ideologies have changed. There are basically two ideals: A liberal view and a conservative view. Some are further right and some are further left.

The liberal view has the tendency to move away from the absolutes of God; places great focus on Government Programs as the savior for the people and demand high taxes to pay for these programs. Liberals are, for the most part, okay with the practice of abortion. They see it as a right for the woman to do so. Liberals are also, for the most part, okay with same sex marriage. Radical Liberals have little respect for what the Bible has to say about things; they have also little respect for the constitution. Everything that represents an absolute, they will question. So is God a Democrat? I don’t think so!

So then, God must be a Republican? I don’t think so either; because the Republican Party today has lost its identity. They seem to be scared of the liberal media so, they go back and forth; it is almost like they are ashamed of showing a conservative view. Their colors are currently pastel. The bold colors that President Reagan spoke about are currently out the window in the Republican Party. They have no identity, so they can’t be identified with God’s Character.

So then, God must be Conservative like the top conservative radio personalities in the US: Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, and Michael Savage. Politically speaking, they are appealing to many people. They believe in small government, lower taxes, strong defense and they seem to have a passion and love for this country that I do not sense in the Democratic Party. However, if you listen to these guys like I have, ask yourselves these questions: Do these guys represent the character of our God in their messages? Do they promote praying for our leaders? Do they promote loving our enemies? Other than talking, what else are they doing to help our nation get closer to God? One of these Radio personality praises a friend of his for walking up every day at 4:00 AM to go to work, returning back home to his family at 9:00 PM Monday through Friday and also working Saturday and Sunday. The man provided all that his family needed; but did he really? It seems like they worship capitalism!  Is that what God tells us to do? What about raising our children, what about spending quality time with the family. Is it all about money?  The conservative movement operates from a legalistic view of God and there seems to be very little grace. So is God conservative? I am going to let you be the judge of that; now you can engage in your discussion as I am eager to read what you have to say.

Government: A Man-Made Institution Destined for Failure

“1 Samuel 8:1-22”

The nation of Israel was born out of the seed of Abraham to which became its twelve tribes under a patriarchal system with Jacob as their leader. By the time Israel was welcomed by Pharaoh in the land of Goshen, Israel became a part of a family of seventy (Genesis 46:27 / 47:1-6). By the time Moses came into the picture; about four hundred years later; the Bible tells us:

“Then a new king began to rule Egypt, who did not know who Joseph was.
This king said to his people, “Look! The people of Israel are too many and too strong for us to handle!
If we don’t make plans against them, the number of their people will grow even more. Then if there is a war, they might join our enemies and fight us and escape from the country!”

(Exodus 1:8-10)

Moses represented, among many things, the beginning of the era of the Judges. Israel had grown too large to properly operate under the Patriarchal System; but still, God remained their King.

The idea of a Monarchal system was rapidly approaching, for the great Judge and Prophet Samuel was aging. His two sons were corrupted and they did not have the character, the anointing or the wisdom to properly carry on the work of their dad, whose record as a prophet and judge was without reproach.  As Samuel grew old there was also a growing desire in God’s people to be like everybody else. (1 Samuel 8:1-22)

It is clear as we look at these verses in 1Samuel 8:1-22 that the idea of this new way of Government was not God’s idea; it was not approved by God. Through the Prophet Samuel the Bible clearly states the consequences of having a Government centered on a man and not on God. In 1 Samuel 8:7 God’s specifically says:

“…and the Lord told Samuel, “Listen to whatever the people say to you. They have not rejected you. They have rejected me from being their king.”

God actually took the pleas from the people for a king as a direct rejection of Him.  The following verses give us the direct consequences of having a Man-Centered Government:

“Samuel said, “If you have a king ruling over you, this is what he will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and his horses, and they will run in front of the king’s chariot.
The king will make some of your sons, commanders over thousands or over fifties. He will make some of your other sons plow his ground and reap his harvest. He will take others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.
He will take your daughters to make perfume and cook and bake for him.
He will take your best fields, vineyards, and olive groves and give them to his servants.
He will take one-tenth of your grain and grapes and give it to his officers and servants.
He will take your male and female servants, your best cattle, and your donkeys and use them all for his own work.
He will take one-tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves.
When that time comes, you will cry out because of the king you chose. But the Lord will not answer you then.”
But the people would not listen to Samuel. They said, “No! We want a king to rule over us.
Then we will be the same as all the other nations. Our king will judge for us and go with us and fight our battles.”
After Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated their words to the Lord.
The Lord answered, “You must listen to them. Give them a king.” Then Samuel told the people of Israel, “Go back to your towns.” (1 Samuel 8:11-22)
You be the judge of these words! Every government in the history of humanity has failed; every powerful nation in the history of mankind was eventually destroyed by its own pride and arrogance. They lasted for a while, some better than others, but only God’s Kingdom will be established forever.

I am not asking for Christians to refuse to participate in the political process, God can even use you in it. We do not lack Biblical and even current examples of men and women used mightily by God in politics. What I am encouraging our Christian brothers and sisters to do are to look at government for what it is; a man-made institution destined for failure. No offense to our Founding Fathers; my respect and my honor to them; but history do not have the authority to take away the Truth of God’s Word. If your hope is in the Democratic Party, our current President, the Tea Party Movement or the return of the Republican Party to power, you are setting yourself up for another great disappointment. God is our King and His Kingdom (Government) is the only one that is established forever. (2 Samuel 7:12-13)
