“Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, ‘I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark…” (Genesis 6:11-14a)
Have you ever been asked by God to do something that makes no sense? Noah did! Here is God telling Noah that He was going to destroy all flesh from the known face of the earth. That was scary enough! But on top of that, God adds, that He was going to send a great flood to put together such destruction. This, for Noah, did not make much sense because back in those days, rain was not even seen yet. With no hesitation, this Righteous man named Noah engaged in the amazing project of building an ark the size of three football fields.
The next time we hear something wired in our spirit, listen again and considered the fact that it could be God speaking to you. The next time you hear God telling you to do something that makes no sense, consider Noah’s task.
