"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" 1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)
“8 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 9 ‘When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.’
10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.” (Exodus 7: 8-12) (NIV)
I know that many times, the enemy looks big and intimidating. Sometimes we are facing situations so, against the odds that we feel that the path to victory is blocked. The Word of God is a book that not only shows us the Love of God, but also His incomparable and unmatchable power. It is amazing to see the magnitude of God’s power compared to the devil. God is able to beat the enemy in an effortless fashion.
There was an exhibition of power between Moses and the Egyptian magicians’. In these versus, though we see Aaron’s snake devouring the snakes of those magicians, the magicians were still able to imitate the miracle. We later see that these magicians were able to imitate the water as blood and the plague of frogs. However, this was as far as they could go, for the Lord was just getting started.
I am so glad that I serve such a powerful God and proud to say that I am on His team. The next time the enemy throws something at you, remember that it doesn’t matter how big and powerful the enemy seems to be; God can and will devour whatever the enemy is able to produce against you.
An independent thinker with a profound call to see the orthodoxy of the church and passion for Christ manifesting together. Angel was born in Brooklyn, New York in April of 1968, he was raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico where he earned his B.S. degree in Sociology with a minor in Education from the Inter American University in San Germán in 1991. That same year he moved to Jacksonville, Florida. After working construction jobs for a year and learning the English language, his first job working with foster-care children in the capacity of youth care worker was with Jacksonville Youth Sanctuary in September of 1992. With JYS he was promoted several times as group home supervisor, legal caseworker, and program director.
While in Jacksonville, Angel studied a couple of martial arts styles. After earning his black belt, he became the founder of Good Fight Ministries as he used martial arts as an instrument to preach the gospel. In 2004 Angel was selected Martial Arts Instructor of the Year for the State of Florida and in 2005 Angel was inducted in the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame where he also received the Christian Spirit Award. In July of 2005 Angel accepted his call to pastor a bilingual church in Winton, NC where he served for a couple of years. Five months later he lost his first wife to cancer in December of that same year. This initiated a deep valley of suffering in his life, a mountain of costly mistakes and the embracing of lifestyles of sin that are well documented through this blog.
In August of 2012 Angel moved to Fairbanks Alaska with his wife Rayette Casiano and six children who are now adults. In Alaska, Angel continued his social work-related career and his ministry of preaching, teaching and writing. Angel is the author of two books, Hope for the divorcee: Forgiving and Moving Forward and 7 Banderas de Esperanza: La Bendición de Yokdzonot. In January 8th of 2020 Angel and his wife moved to Arizona.

God is indeed powerful. But it is interesting to note that God does not merely swat Pharaoh as though he were a gnat. Instead God reacts to Pharaoh’s arrogance and stubbornness with ever increasing signs in order to invite Pharaoh to respond positively and obediently to God’s plan for the world. A key verse is 9:16: “But this is why I have let you live: to show you my power, and to make my name resound through all the earth.” All of God’s actions are meant to draw people to reconcile with their creator, Angel. Even Pharaoh is shown grace in the form of multiple opportunities to submit to God’s plans and release God’s people to serve God. God desires us to respond with faithful obedience to his call on our lives. He relentlessly engages us with opportunities to (re)align our lives with His missional aims.
I actually just went to hear Thelma Wells speak and she discussed just this. I am working on an article inspired by her speach and new book. Very poweful subject…would you mind if I quoted you if it comes up in my next article?

I liked what you had to say today, it’s so true. They enemy can try all he will to match God, but our God is greater and wins everytime! Thank you for this encouraging thought today.
