God Wants to Show Off in the World, in your Family and In You

January 25, 2011

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these miraculous signs of mine among them 2 that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the LORD.” (Exodus 10:1-2) NIV

God never wastes his time! If we can just see that every word, every dot, every coma and every letter in the Bible has a profound meaning we would never take His Word lightly. In these verses, we see that God revealed to Moses three reasons why He is doing what He is, and how:

  1. God Wants to Manifest His Power in the World: God wanted to show off among them. Many of us have the wrong idea of ministry. We think of ministry as hiding in a building doing the same thing with the same people over and over, Sunday after Sunday. We want to be only around Christians and many feel that unless we directly work for an established ministry, we are not considered ministers, at all. So we continue to develop the entertainment mentality as we delegate the fact that God has called each one of us to be vessels of His glory and power.

  2. God wants for us to share with our children the Word and The Testimonies of the manifestation of His power: Our children spend too, much time distracted by the things of the world; but if we introduce God to them as He is and not as religions’ view of God is; we will, without a doubt, have a better nation. It is important that we communicate with our children what the Lord has done, is doing and is yet to do according to the Scripture. We need to share the stories of our mess with our children and give them a clear idea of the places our God delivered us from. Some of us are so busy trying to be perfect and showing our children what we are not, that we forget to exalt Jesus. It is not about us, it is about exalting Jesus and His work in us. Many of our children follow the world because the world is more attractive as the world seems more glamorous and powerful than our pitiful seminary box and religious presentations of a god that does not look anything like the True God in the Bible.

  3. God wants us to individually know that He is Lord: We will never present God effectively to humanity if we ourselves don’t know God as Lord. Many of us like Him as a Savior; as the One that saves us from hell; yet we refuse to see Him as Lord.  When Jesus becomes our Lord, then our lives will experience powerful transformations. Out of knowing that He is Lord and treat him as so, we will experience the power of His anointing. So we will manifest not just head knowledge, not just mere entertainment; but the anointing of God that breaks the joke of bondage out of His people. Moses needed that kind of power, without it, he would have been killed from the very moment he dared to stand in front of Pharaoh requesting God’s people to be set free. Pharaoh and the people of Egypt considered Moses a god, for the manifestation of God’s power in Moses’ life was indeed, overwhelming for the most powerful nation at that time.

  1. God gave me scripture, and I believe it’s for this time and even for times many of us went through. Its found in Psalm 118. Psalm 118:15 reads: “There are glad songs of victory in the tents of the righteous: The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.” I believe that’s where we are right now. It’s not where we’ve always been and many of you may not have seem the manifestation of it yet, but I tell you there is a day coming, and it’s not far off (it’s not when we get to heaven, it’s not pie in the sky), when we here the voice of rejoicing and the voice of salvation in our tents. We’re going to see the right hand of the Lord doing valiantly in our lives. Verse 16 says, “the right hand of the LORD is exalted.” The right hand, most often, symbolizes strength. What He’s saying is we’re going to see the strength of the Lord displayed and demonstrated in the lives of the people of God. The next line says, “the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.” We’re going to see the power of God, the strength of God demonstrated in our lives and in out behalf. Verse 17 says, “I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the LORD.” Many of us thought we would die or wanted to die. I tell people this, if the enemy had a chance to kill me, he should have killed me while I was down. He should have destroyed me when I was in fear and doubting myself and doubting where I was with God, and doubting my ministry, and questioning myself, but he didn’t. Therefore, I shall not die, but I’m going to live and I’m going to declare the deeds of the Lord.

Angel, my dear brother, I know that over the past three or so years that you went through of breaking where things that took place in your personal life and things that took place in your family that were very hurtful, and you humbled yourself under God’s mighty hand. You went through a time of being broken and being striped of pride and confidence in yourself and in your abilities, but it was in those times you learned of the faithfulness of God and you learned something of yourself in those times. You learned you would not give up on God, no matter how overpowered you felt, or how defeated things looked. You learned you loved God, you wanted to live for Him, you had a heart to follow him, and you began to hunger and thirst after God like you never have before. You sought Him, and God ministered to you. You went through a period when you experienced the power of God like you never had before. Even now, there are nights when God himself has had to awaken you from your slumber. You didn’t know how to react to it. It was so powerful, but also very unsettling. The Spirit was all over you. And so it shouldn’t been too surprising that it was right around that time that it seemed like all hell broke loose against you, but God did not let you die. You shall not die, but you’re going to live and declare the deeds of the Lord.

You are not alone, Angel. Many of us have felt like you felt. Verse 18 sums it up. It reads, “the LORD has chastened me severely, but he did not give me over to death.” Amen! God has the devil on a leash, and it looked like the devil was having his day, but he could only go so far. God has turned that thing around and it is turning it around. He turned it around in my life, He’s turning it around in your life, and God’s going to use what the enemy meant for your harm and turn it around for your good. He is going to cause you to be better than you ever were, cause you to be more effective, cause you to be more powerful, have more influence, and have more impact on people’s lives than you ever thought you could have.

Verse 19 says, “Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the LORD.” I belie we are living in a time when God is opening the floodgates. He’s not holding back anything. He is opening the gates, and we the righteous ones (we are the righteousness of God) are going to walk through the gates God has opened before us. This is going to cause us to praise Him in ways we’ve never praised Him before because God’s going to do things in us what we’ve not allowed Him to do before.

Verse 20 says, “This is the gate of the LORD; the righteous shall enter through it.” That’s us, Angel. That’s me and you. We’re going to enter into the things of God like we never have before and we’re going to possess the gate of our enemy and we’re going to enter into the gate of the Lord, into the gate of the fullness of the Lord, into the gate of the presence and the glory and the power of God.

Verse 21 says, “I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.” We’re going to come to the place where we depend on God totally, and we’re going to look to Him. That’s the purpose for the brokenness that has been taking place in your life and in my life, so we’ll get to the place where we won’t trust in our armor. We won’t trust in chariots. We won’t trust in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. As we humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, then God will exalt us in due season.

You have had many stones thrown at you. You’ve felt like, “My goodness, they’re trying to stone me to death,” but notice verse 22. It reads, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.” God has a way of doing that. Just as He turned your valley of trouble into a door of hope, God has a way of taking the stone that everybody else rejected, and making it the head of the corner. He is going to take the stones people have thrown at us and use them to build a house of praise. The stone people said, “this will surely knock you out,” God says will be the head stone of the house of praise that He’s building in your life. “This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
