We are all Americans, from the CEOs in Washington, DC to the Drug Dealers in Camden, NJ; from the one who serves in the local rescue mission for homeless to the one serving a life sentence for murder in a state prison; from the single mom with three kids from three different daddies trying to fix her mistakes to the one that seems to never learn. We are all Americans, from the white to the black, from the black to the white; from Hawaii to Alaska, from Puerto Rico to those that now call the US their “legal” home; some does not speak good English or any English at all, but we are all Americans. From the gun lovers to the gun haters; from the liberals to the conservatives, from all races, from all colors, from all religions, from what is disgusting to some, to what is disgusting to others we are all Americans. From Sarah Palin to Michael Moore, from Rush Limbaugh to Bill Maher, from Evangelist Billy Graham to Louis Farrakhan, from the Salvation Army to the Black Panthers, from the one in seminary to the one on crack…we are all Americans! From the ghetto to Bel Air, from Main to Florida, from Florida to California, from California to the Washington of the west and back to Main, from the Mountains to the Coasts, from our President to Romney…from you and from me…we are all Americans! All of these realities are our realities, the reality of America!
What would happen if with the same passion Christians went out today to show their support to “Chick-fil-A”, they would run into their secret places to spend quality time with Jesus? What would happen if with the same passion Christians went out today to show their support to “Chick-fil-A” restaurants they would go after the lost souls around them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? What would happen if with the same passion Christians went out today to show their support to “Chick-fil-A” restaurants they would become hungry and thirsty for God’s righteousness? What would happen if with the same passion Christians went out today to show their support to “Chick-fil-A” restaurants they would work hard towards the unity of our divided Body of Christ? What would happen if with the same passion Christians went out today to show their support to “Chick-fil-A” restaurants they would confront the false prophets and false teachers among us? What would happen if with the same passion Christians went out today to show their support to “Chick-fil-A” restaurants they refuse to allow gossip to corrupt our conversations? What would happen if with the same passion Christians went out today to show their support to “Chick-fil-A” restaurants they would also gather together to pray for this lost nation?
I will tell you what would happen, we would be experiencing a great revival! But we are so dry and cold that we rather exchange going after a sincere and rich relationship with Christ for another protest against the world. We are big in standing for so call Godly Causes, but not so big in our prayer life.
The Apostle Paul was facing a huge scandal in the Corinthian church; a man had sex with his father’s wife and was walking around the church un-repented. In First Corinthians 5:9-13, Paul urged the church to confront that terrible in-house sin; in the process he gives us a window on how to deal with world’s sin:
“9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.
12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.” (NIV)
Verses 12 and 13 are key: The Apostle Paul establishes that it is not our business to judge the world; however it is our job to judge and deal with those in-house sins among us. Beloved, the world is blind; they can’t see their own mess or their own sin; they are serving Satan who is the god of this world. In Second Corinthians 4:4 the Bible tells us:
“4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (NIV)
Beloved, what are we doing? They don’t need another protest; they need the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Don’t give them another reminder that we believe different than them and call that standing for freedom. Get on fire for God; worship HIM, pray, intercede, adore HIM, seek HIS Shekinah glory, let God fill you with HIS power and anointing; cry-out for HIS Baptism of Fire so that you may have power to witness; let the Holy Spirit have HIS way, let HIM sanctify your own mess, let us love one another and you will see that these things will shown themselves more effective than to buying a few extra Chicken Sandwiches at “Chick-fil-A”. The world is lost and it will forever be lost; the world will get worst as they continue to serve their god Satan; but we have the solution; we have the Message that can save and transform lives. In Luke 4:16-21 we read the words that marked the beginning of our Lord Jesus Christ’s ministry on this earth:
16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Are you anointed to proclaim the good news?
I hear often how people want to get in shape, but they complain that they don’t want to work out hard. They want to lose weight, but they don’t want to develop the discipline to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and diet change. They can’t give up the things that tear their bodies down. They always comment about how the girl in the tank top and small shorts, or the guy in the tank top makes them feel uncomfortable, and intimidated. Their biggest addictions are sugar and caffeine. Yes addictions. Did you know that sugar and caffeine were classified as drugs! Sugar has the same affect on your brain that Heroine does! So if you really want to get in shape, you will do what is necessary. You will seek help and do what you need to do, NO EXCUSES! If you decide not to, you can’t expect to get where you need to be. This is why very few people achieve their fitness goals. The ones that do show the heart, and discipline to get it done! Don’t be jealous of the individuals that do have it, and make the changes in their life because you can too, you just choose not to! If you have been working out for some time and not seeing the results you want, it is probably your diet! Professional Bodybuilder Jay Cutler said it best quote:” If you are not watching your diet, you are wasting your time going to the gym. Diet should be the first thing that is taken care of before you start.” :unquote. Wow, that says it all right there! So if you are working out everyday and not seeing changes, seek help with controlling your nutrition. Don’t sabotage your workouts by thinking that you can eat crap and get in shape..lol. Make it a lifestyle change, and be the best you can be!
