Our Sin Problem
- The greatest problem in humanity is sin; sin is what separate us from God. Isaiah 59:2 tells us,
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.
2. If we do not deal with sin properly it leads to eternal separation from God. Revelation 20:15 tells us,
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
3. Sin is always the wrong path to follow, but it always looks like the right path. Proverbs 14:12 tells us,
There is a way which seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.
4. The problem with sin is a universal one. Every person in the world has a sin problem. There is no room for self-righteousness. Romans 3:23 tells us,
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
5. We are all guilty before God without Jesus. Romans 3:10 tells us,
as it is written,
There is none righteous, not even one;
The Path to Eternal Life
Understand that the path to eternal life with God has a divine protocol. We do not get to dictate that path; it is already established in Scripture. In the things of God there is no such thing as having it our way. God has given us the Gospel, the word Gospel means, Good News. That divine protocol to eternal life with God is as follow:
- There is only one Gospel. Galatians 1:6-9 tells us,
I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; 7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!
2. Our spirit must be Born Again. John 3:1-6 tells us,
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2 this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?”5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
3. To be Born Again you must be saved. Romans 10:8-10 tells us,
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
Other Ingredients to Salvation that Cannot be Ignored
4. Salvation involves not only believing the sacrifice of Jesus, but also repenting for your sins.
Acts 3:19 tells us
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
Acts 11:18 tells us,
When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.”
5. Salvation also involves the confession of sins.
1 John 1:9 tells us
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Proverbs 28:13 tells us,
He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.
6. Salvation also involves the willingness to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Romans 10:13 tells us,
for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
I am not manipulating you or anybody else into any prayer of salvation because I know that salvation is the work of our Lord. I believe that many people in church are not even saved because they were manipulated into believing they were saved. They simply responded to man. If God is touching your heart; if you believe this message, if you feel the spirit of repentance within you; if you no longer feel that you are a good person, if you no longer feel that you are innocent of sin or better than anybody else and, if you are ready to confess your sins and confess Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, then open your mouth and confess what God is already doing in you. You are already saved; your first act of obedience is to indeed open your mouth confess your sins and confess Christ as your Savior and Lord. You can pray the following prayer,
“Jesus, I believe now that God the Father sent you to die for us and that you were raised on the third day. I believe that you are the Lord of lords and King of kings. Jesus forgive me for all of my sins; come into my life and be my Lord, be the leader of my life. I surrender my life to you. Holy Spirit release in me your fruit, the spiritual gifts that you have for me, your activities and operations; help me to do God’s will and to complete the good plan that the Father has for my life. In Jesus name… Amen!”
God bless you and welcome to the family!
