Beyond Demons 8

What are Demons and Where they Come From?

We saw the Devil’s organizational chart in the last article. The devil is on top, then the gods who also rebelled against God; these are the rulers of nations and cities that rule under Satan, then the fallen angels and then, on the bottom of this demonic organizational chart, are demons. Demons are found in many places and they have specific roles that we will be discussing in later articles. Let’s start answering the key question for this article, what are demons and where they come from?

To help us understand demons let us remember that it is the spirit in us that gives us life.  In Genesis 2:7 the Bible tells us, “then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.” (ESV) The word breath is the word spirit. Why do I point this out? Because in the New Testament Demons are the same as unclean spirits (Matthew 10:112:43Mark 1:26Luke 4:366:18Acts 5:168:7) Why are demons unclean? Because they were the spirits that came out of the Nephilim in Genesis 6 after they died in the Great Flood. Enoch tells us in the Book of the Watchers,

“And now, the giants, who produce from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits on earth… And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble. They take no food, but nevertheless hunger and thirst, and cause offenses. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them.”[1]

Later, we will look through Scripture to confirm the demonic job description according to Enoch. Demons are unclean because the fallen angels went after the women forming something that it was not of God. Jude 1:6 tells us, “And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day.” (ESV) In order for these Nephilim to have life they also needed a spirit, but in this case, it is an unclean spirit. Spirits do not die!

Demons are looking for bodies to manifest; we see this in Matthew 8:28-32, “And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. 29 And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” 30 Now a herd of many pigs was feeding at some distance from them. 31 And the demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs.” 32 And he said to them, “Go.” So, they came out and went into the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters.” (ESV)

Satan is not like God, he can’t be in every place at the same time, but his army is well organized. There are demons everywhere in this world. On this earth we are either under demon influence or, even deeper, demon possession. To learn more about demons we will be looking at demons in the Old Testament, Demons in the New Testament and How to Engage in Spiritual Welfare Effectively.

Beyond Demons 7

The Devils Organizational Chart

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. First John 4:1-6 (ESV)

John tells us here to test the spirits; we must know where the spirit we are dealing with comes from, God or evil. Those are the only two choices; there is nothing in between. Thankfully, the test is not complicated, “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. John 4:1-6 (ESV)

As I read these verses, I can’t help but realize, once again, how important it is to pay attention to what folks are teaching. Theology and doctrine are important, and their importance can’t be minimized. In their rush for unity, many overlooked what folks are teaching and, in that, they are violating what the Apostle Paul command us to do, to test the spirits.

We know that the Adversary is a lair (John 8:44) and a deceiver (Revelation 12:9). He hates God and he hates us. Satan must be particularly upset in regard to the gospel. He was convinced that he was actually killing Jesus, not realizing that killing Jesus was God’s main plan to redeem his people. First Corinthians 2:6-8 tells us,

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (ESV)

I want you to understand that as you look at a false teacher, or a false prophet, etc. they may present the true gospel, but if you look deeper, they will ALWAYS end up perverting it. That’s how you know! So, this force us to look closely! It is like a singer who has one good Christian song, but the rest of the album is promoting the devil’s agenda. It is sickening to hear how many Christians will characterize that performer as a believer. The devil does not present himself fully evil; how can he effectively deceive anybody if he does so?

As we discussed before, the gods that were placed in charge over the 70 nations in Genesis 10, betrayed God (Deuteronomy 32 and Psalm 82). We will not go back to discuss that, but will move forward. The Apostle Paul tell us in Ephesians 6:12,

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (ESV)

Beloved, the entire secular world is ruled by the devil who is the god of this world, (2 Corinthians 4:4). Ephesians 6:12 gives us the organization of the devil’s government. As previously discussed, Genesis 10 gave us the table of nations. God divided the world in 70 nations; Israel was not around yet. Today, there are about 195 nations in the world. Where are these 195 nations located?

With a little patience, all of these nations can be traced back to the 70 original nations. This is significant because God placed gods in charge of these nations. God divided the world in 70 nations after flood of Noah. However, the people kept sinning, so God divorced the world. In Deuteronomy 32 Moses describes the betrayal of the gods and the nations against God. This is particularly important; Moses described these betrayal’s including Israel’s in a song. After Moses presented this song to the Israelites, he died that same day. I guess the devil did not like that song too much as he fought for Moses’ soul against the Archangel Michael (Jude 1:9).

In Psalm 82, written by Psalmist Asaph, God declared that these gods will die like mere humans (Psalm 82:6-7). We need to understand that this world is still under the rulership of Satan and his gods. This demonic government has Satan at the top, the gods, the fallen angels and the demons at the bottom. It is of vital importance that we understand this so that we are able to understand proper spiritual warfare. Let’s go back to Ephesian 6:12 and let’s look through these key words in the original language:

  1. Wrestle: This is the Greek word pálē; meaning “A struggle or hand–to–hand combat. It was used of the wrestling of athletes and hand–to–hand combat of soldiers.[2] Let me emphasis that this definition is not describing a sport. The ultimate goal here is to kill your opponent. That is why is describing Gladiator’s type of comeback and soldiers in comeback. This is not a game; this is a real, violent and brutal fight. It is a spiritual fight; however, it does make contact in our dimension of life through sickness, calamities and all kinds of psychological and emotional traumas.
  2. Rulers: This is the Greek word archḗ; meaning, “the beginning of something, as the beginning of a line, road, and so forth.”[3] The Rulers are the first in the line of authority; these are the gods; only Satan is above them.
  3. Authorities: This is simply defining the nature of Satan’s government. This is the Greek word exousia;meaning “liberty of doing as one pleases; the right to exercise power or “the power of rule or government,” the power of one whose will, and commands must be obeyed by others.”[4] We hear a lot about authority; “I take authority” they like to say in the charismatic movement. However, this definition is describing the authority that Satan and his followers have over the secular world. The secular system is not ours; it was not given to us.  The Bible clearly identified Satan as the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4 / Matt. 4:8-10).
  4. These are the Cosmic Powers: This is the devil organizational chart. (1)The devil is the Archon: A chief, a prince. The devil is also Arche: A rule, sovereignty (Dominion); beginning. He started this whole rebellion against God. The devil is also Kosmokrator: A ruler of this world. The context (“not against flesh and blood”) shows that no earthly potentates are indicated, but spirit powers, who, under the permissive will of God, and in consequence of human sin, exercise satanic and therefore antagonistic authority over the world in its present condition of spiritual darkness and alienation from God. (2) Politarches: A ruler of a city” (polis, “a city,” archo, “to rule). There were gods in charge of the 70 nations in Genesis 10. The Bible do not say how many gods were they. Politarches specifically indicates a ruler of a city. Every city on earth has a god in charge under the leadership of Satan. (3) Architríklinos; A ruler, governor, or the master of a feast, the person who had the direction of the entertainment, arrangement of the guests, and so forth (John 2:8-9). The architríklinos, was required to remain strictly sober at all times as he directed the affairs of the feast, tasted the wine first lest the drunken guests thought they were drinking wine while they were drinking water. The Greeks called such a ruler sumposíarchos (the ruler of a sumpósion [4849], a drinking party or symposium) or trapezopoiós (the one who makes or arranges a trápeza [5132], a table or tables for eating).[5] As you can see, these particular rulers are spread all over the world as they are in charge of entertainment: Drinking, eating and partying.

Thanks to global recession, the value of the worldwide entertainment and media market is projected to fall to two trillion U.S. dollars for the year 2020. However, the forecast for 2021 suggests revenue will once more rise to 2.1 trillion U.S. dollars, as in 2019. Further growth is forecast for the following years. In the United States the entertainment and media market was worth an estimated 678 billion U.S. dollars in 2018 and was expected to grow to over 720 billion U.S. dollars by 2020.[6]

Think about this for a minute, it will take about 330 billion dollars to eradicate hunger around the world; however, we spend 2.1 TRILLION dollars in entertainment. In 2018 the USA alone spend 760 billion dollars in entertainment; more than twice of what is needed to eradicate hunger around the world. This numbers tell you who the gods of this world are.

5. Darkness: This is the Greek word skótos; meaning, Darkness; with a focus on spiritual darkness, implying ignorance or error (John 3:19; Rom. 2:19); eternal misery and damnation (Matt. 8:12; 2 Pet. 2:17; Jude 1:13); sin and misery (Matt. 4:16; Luke 1:79; Acts 26:18; 1 Thess. 5:4; 1 Pet. 2:9), as well as persons in such a state (Eph. 5:8); the works of darkness, such works as are usually practiced by men in darkness or secretly (Rom. 13:12; Eph. 5:11 [cf. 1 Cor. 4:5; 1 John 1:6]). The infernal spirits as the opposite of Christ, the sun or light of righteousness (Luke 22:53).[7] When we talk about Spiritual Forces of Evil; spiritual is the Greek word, πνευματικός belonging to a spirit, or a being higher than man but inferior to God.[8] Paul is very clear that the spirit that he is talking about here is evil. Based on this definition we are talking about demons here. These are demons operating in people. These are the lowest rank in the devil’s organizational chart.

In our next article we will address the two very important questions for this session: #1. What are demons and #2: Where they come from?

A Prayer of Gratefulness: No Other god like Jehovah

Heavenly Father, I love you! I am so grateful that I can call you my Father. So grateful that I know that you are faithful, that you will never leave me nor forsake me. So thankful that you love me enough to discipline me when I get out of line; that you do not let me sin without conviction… what a blessing that is! I know of my imperfections; I know that I am only righteous through Christ. Oh, your master plan to save your creation is divine; no human mind could even come close to come up with such redemptive plan. You did not leave us when the serpent introduced sin into your creation by deceiving Eve. You did not leave us when the fallen angels had sex with the daughters of men and genetically contaminated the human race; but you found Noah; the only righteous and genetically clean human left on the earth; him and his wife, three sons and three daughters in law. You did not leave us when the nations of the world abandoned you, you placed gods over them, but raised one man and started your own nation where you could start all over again and reveal yourself, your Law and righteousness. Through Abraham you continue your pursue to return us back to Eden and now, through Abraham all of the nations of the world have a door to your blessing. You did not leave us when the gods betrayal you and the nations openly engage in idolatry as they placed their energy in the building of the Tower of Babel. Every false religion and secret society find the root there as they worship the gods who betrayed you. Even as your own people Israel betrayed you; your covenants are there to facilitate Israel’s redemption. Thank you for Jesus because when the whole world left and betrayed you, He came to die and became the ONLY way of redemption. THROUGH HIM we find that redemption that we can’t never achieve on our own; for your precious Law testify against us and our condition as sinners. Oh, but through Christ we find salvation from this evil world. Through Jesus is our escape from the fire of your judgments that awaits the devil, his angels and all who embrace the ways of the world. For friendship with the world is enmity with you. Thank you for your Holy Ghost who bless us with your grace, the gift of faith and repentance of our sins. Your supernatural hand defeated the ancient snake, his angels, the Nephilim and the genetically corrupt.  On the cross of calvary you fooled our celestial enemies; in killing Jesus they gave us life. For in First Corinthians 2:8 your servant Paul tells us, “None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (NIV) This are not the mere humans who govern; you fooled Satan and the gods who rule the world. For this reason, there is no other god like you. The genetically and spiritual corrupt beings are amongst us today; but no weapon will prosper against your church. We are born again; we are indeed new creatures; not unredeemable monsters. You are amazing; I can see more… I can see with more clarity… Continue to open my eyes, take me into the deep things of God. Holy Ghost teach me more… In Jesus name… Amen!

Beyond Demons 6

Who are the Nephilim?

We can’t talk about the Nephilim without expanding a little further on the fallen angels. As you know by now, there a good and bad angel. Revelation 12:7-9 makes a good distinction.

Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.[1]

Satan and the angels who followed him were thrown right here on this earth. This explained why God said in Genesis 6:6, “And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.”[2]

We as humans were created right here in the middle of the evil action. Right here in the same place Satan and his fallen angels were thrown. Do you think for a minute that they were going to receive us with open arms? How do you think Satan and the fallen angels felt when they heard the news that we were destined to judge them one day? The apostle Paul tells us in First Corinthians 6:3, “Do you not know that we are to judge angels?[3]

The devil and his angels hate us with a passion. On top of that we experience something that the devil, his fallen angels nor the Nephilim will ever experience… MERCY! So, they are on a mission to corrupt and destroy us and, that is exactly what they have done since the beginning. The fall of Adam and Eve was just the beginning; Genesis 6 took us deeper into all iniquity. Genesis 6:1-4 tells us,

When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown. (ESV)

The Bible tells us very clearly that the “…Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward” Either Noah’s flood was not successful in killing them all or, the rest of the fallen angels repeated the genetic formula of angels having sex with women to continue to produce these evil monsters.

I am convinced that producing giants as they did in the Old Testament (Genesis 6:1-4) may it obvious to the rest of the world and also, they required too many resources to keep them alive. We read in the Old Testament that they were devouring men (Number 13:32).  Enoch states that they ended up eating each other. So perhaps these Nephilim or, this genetic monster has gotten better.

The key is not their physical size, that is not relevant, the key is what Genesis 6:5 tells us regarding the content of their character, “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”[4]

Have you ever asked yourself how can some folks be so evil? Genesis 6:5 gives you the answer; they are evil continually; there is never any remorse; they enjoy evil. Beloved, these folks are amongst us. Jude tells us that during his time these things “crept in unnoticed.”  (Jude 1:4). These genetic monsters are not eating people, drinking blood and so on like the Nephilim did. These things, who look like humans, are wearing the same clothing we are wearing, they are in ministry, they are leading worship, they are running a home group, some of them are elders, some are in the Board of Directors and some are pastors. Their job is to corrupt sound doctrine and give us all kinds of foolish teachings that are nowhere to be found in Scripture. They do this, in order to be able to distract us from the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and have us neglect the great commission.

Beloved, this explains how we look at so many bad doctrines and theologies accepted in churches unchallenged. These genetically corrupt beings are behind such corruption. Today more than ever we need believers with the gift of Discernment to be trained, to be mature and to have the freedom to move in the gift God has given them. First John 4:1-6 tells us,

(ESV)

  1. We should not believe everybody in the church: No matter the title or how eloquent they may sound; there should always be a little naiveness in us. We should be able to ask questions and, if we are not able to ask question perhaps that is not our church.
  2. We should test the spirits of every person in the church, especially those in position of leadership: What we are testing is whether that person comes from God or from the devil. This test is actually not a complicated one: If that person does not have a clear confession of what represents for Jesus to come on this earth in the flesh and, a clear confession of their own salvation; they are not of God. If a person denies such confession, he/she is not from God, but belongs to the spirit of the antichrist. Let us remember, as we discussed before, that the world is filled with gods who rebelled against Jehovah. In Genesis 10 we see the world divided in 70 nations; all of those nations were given up by God to be ruled by other gods. These gods rebelled against God (Psalm 82). There was only one nation God directly ruled: Israel. Israel also betrayed God; but because of the Covenants Israel will be redeemed. Today there is a New Covenant and, through Christ all of the nations of the world have access to God’s redemption. The world (Secularism) is an open rejection of our God. That is why Christ tells us, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” First John 2:15 (ESV) Historically, the worst thing that happens to our churches is to have people in position of power who are not save; that is because, they are of this world and they are all about the agenda of the world and not of God.
  3. Whomever is from God listens to the apostolic teachings, whomever is not rejects the apostolic teachings: The spirit of the world rejects the gospel and rejects sounds doctrine. That is why these false prophets distract God’s people with a cluster of “revelation” that sounds deep, but is not found in Scripture. It is not a complicated thing; they are simply in error because what they teach contradicts Scripture. That is why what they teach is received with open arms by the world and by worldly folks in church.

piensa en los tiempos pasados;

[ Pausa]

Luego Jesús envía a 70 discípulos.

Beyond Demons 5

Who Are the Fallen Angels?

The Old Testament has what Dr. Michael Heiser called Three-Tiered Council Structure.[1] Yahweh is on top; there is none like HIM, He is the creator of everything, including all the celestial and human beings. Second are the gods, they are not like our God, for they were created by Jehovah. We spoke about these gods in our previous article. The third and lowest level, in the Old Testament are the angels. Angels are more of a job description, for they are God’s messengers.

In the supernatural world there is also an even lower category, very common amongst us; those are demons. We will also talk about them in future articles on this series; but let’s get back to the fallen angels. The fallen angels showed up in Scripture in Genesis 6. We know those were fallen angels because Jude speaks about them when he states, “And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day.[2]Peter also speak of them when he states, “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment…”[3] In both occasions Jude and Peter are referring to the angels in Genesis 6 who corrupted themselves by having sex with the daughters of man. The word angel in both of these portions of Scripture is the Greek word, ággelos; meaning, “Messenger, one sent to announce or proclaim.”[4] The word Angel here is the Hebrew word, malʾāḵ“A masculine noun meaning a messenger.”[5]

There is something to consider here. What we know for sure is that all of the angels that engaged in having sex with women are no longer with us. In the Book of Enoch, The Watchers, he specifically tells us that there were 200 angels that engage in this iniquity. Enoch, who is quoted by Jude, also confirms what Peter and Jude said about these angels. Both Jude and Peter tell us that they are in chains and in a place of great darkness until judgment.

So, we could conclude that either there were only 200 fallen angels and, if that is so, they are no longer amongst us. Or, if there are more than 200 fallen angels; the ones who did not engage in Genesis 6 are still around. Nevertheless, Jesus did not send the disciples to cast out fallen angels; he specifically sends them out into the world to cast out demons. Luke 9:1 tells us, “And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons…”[6] I can’t conclude that there are no fallen angels amongst us with certainty because Jude 1:3-4 tells

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. (ESV)

I am convinced this is a reference to Genesis 6; I am also convinced that the union of fallen angels and women is not producing giants anymore but is producing a thing that looks physically normal… a thing that looks just like us. In the next article we will talk more about these fallen angels and, about their giant babies… the Nephilim.

Beyond Demons 4

“The Third Celestial Rebellion: When God had Enough”

It is easy to see celestial intervention in the fall of Adam and Eve. The devil himself, in the form of a snake tempted Eve. It is also easy to see celestial intervention in Genesis 6, after all, fallen angels had sex with the daughters of men. However, it is a little harder and it requires a little more work to see the celestial intervention in the Tower of Babel story. In Genesis 11:1-4 the Bible describes a portion of this story,

Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.” (ESV)

Obviously, they were going completely against the Lord’s command to fill the earth (Genesis 1:28) and they were engaging in idolatry attempting to build a name for themselves. At first glance it seems solely a human thing; but as we look deeper, we see the hands of celestial evil operating.

In Deuteronomy 32 Moses spoke his last word to the children of Israel. He left his most important message in the form of a song. We will be looking at portions of this chapter utilizing the English Standard Version.

“The Rock, his work is perfect,
    for all his ways are justice.
A God of faithfulness and without iniquity,
    just and upright is he.
They have dealt corruptly with him;
    they are no longer his children because they are blemished;
    they are a crooked and twisted generation.

It is important to point out that Moses is not speaking about Israel here; he is speaking about the rest of the nations that corrupted themselves by worshipping and following other gods. That will become clearer later. The word corruptly in verse 5 comes from the Hebrew word šāḥaṯ, “A verb meaning to spoil, to ruin, to destroy, to pervert. [1] This is the same word used in Genesis 6:11 to describe what the fallen angels did to God’s creation. The word blemished also gives us insight and a direct reference to the rebellion of Genesis 6, it is the Hebrew word muʾwm, “A masculine noun meaning defect. This word usually describes a physical characteristic that is deemed to be bad.”[2] In Deut. 10:7-8 Moses continued by stating,

Remember the days of old;
    consider the years of many generations;
ask your father, and he will show you,
    your elders, and they will tell you.
When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance,
    when he divided mankind,
he fixed the borders of the peoples
    according to the number of the sons of God.

This is making a reference to Genesis 10 when God divided the world into 70 nations that proceeded directly out of the sons of Noah. We see that in verse 8 he speaks about dividing the nations according to the number of the sons of God. Same expression, sons of God that appears to describe the fallen angels in Genesis 6:1-4. In Psalm 82 we read of a divine council taking place; these gods have led the people astray and now the people are worshipping them; the gods are oppressing the people and Asaph the Psalmist is praying. God addresses these gods by stating, “I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die,  and fall like any prince.” Psalm 82:6-7 (ESV) Something went terribly wrong here.

Back to Deuteronomy 32:9 we confirmed that God is not divorcing the children of Israel, he is divorcing the rest of the world when he states,

But the Lord's portion is his people,
    Jacob his allotted heritage.

Notice that in this verses God is speaking about his people, the Children of Israel. In verse 12 is the clear separation, “the Lord alone guided him, no foreign god was with him.” Referring to Jacob or Israel. From here on down something is clear, God suffered a great betrayal from every side. From the gods he put in charge of the rest of the nations; from the people of those nations who engaged in worshipping those gods and,  sadly, even his own people also betrayal God. Deuteronomy 32:15-18 tells us

“But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked;
    you grew fat, stout, and sleek;
then he forsook God who made him
    and scoffed at the Rock of his salvation.
16 They stirred him to jealousy with strange gods;
    with abominations they provoked him to anger.
17 They sacrificed to demons that were no gods,
    to gods they had never known,
to new gods that had come recently,
    whom your fathers had never dreaded.
18 You were unmindful of the Rock that bore you,
    and you forgot the God who gave you birth.

Israel ended up engaging in idolatry and the worship of other gods like everybody else. in spite of a warning God gave them early in Deut. 4:19 when he states, “And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven. 20 But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be a people of his own inheritance, as you are this day.” (ESV) Have you notice that in about every culture people are always worshipping the sun, the moon and the stars? Do you think that is a coincidence?

The gods will find no forgiveness; the people outside of God’s covenant will find no forgiveness either. However, look at how God speaks to Israel. We continue we Deuteronomy 32,

36 For the Lord will vindicate his people
    and have compassion on his servants,
when he sees that their power is gone
    and there is none remaining, bond or free.
37 Then he will say, ‘Where are their gods,
    the rock in which they took refuge,
38 who ate the fat of their sacrifices
    and drank the wine of their drink offering?
Let them rise up and help you;
    let them be your protection!
39 “‘See now that I, even I, am he,
    and there is no god beside me;
I kill and I make alive;
    I wound and I heal;
    and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.
40 For I lift up my hand to heaven
    and swear, As I live forever,
41 if I sharpen my flashing sword
    and my hand takes hold on judgment,
I will take vengeance on my adversaries
    and will repay those who hate me.
42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood,
    and my sword shall devour flesh—
with the blood of the slain and the captives,
    from the long-haired heads of the enemy.’
43 “Rejoice with him, O heavens;
    bow down to him, all gods,
for he avenges the blood of his children
    and takes vengeance on his adversaries.
He repays those who hate him
    and cleanses his people's land.”

God will let his people suffer the consequences of their actions and come to the end of themselves. That is the place where they will realize that without the true God Jehovah, we are all left empty. At that time, God will still show mercy over his people, but will severely judge his celestial enemies for what they have done to his creation. After delivering this song in Deuteronomy 32, the Bible tells us that Moses died that same day.

These are Moses’ last recorded words, “…Take to heart all the words by which I am warning you today, that you may command them to your children, that they may be careful to do all the words of this law. 47 For it is no empty word for you, but your very life, and by this word you shall live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.”

In his book, Supernatural: What the Bible has to Say About the Unseen World and Why it Matters Dr. Michael S. Heiser states,

The supernatural worldview that emerged from Babel, with the unbelieving nations under the dominion of evil gods, remain intact. Israel was defeated and scattered, and her Promised Land came under the rule of other gods and their peoples. This is same worldview permeates the New Testament too. Paul uses terms like principalities, authorities, thrones, and powers to describe the forces of darkness…Jesus initially called twelve disciples. The number isn’t accidental. Jesus began the kingdom plan with Israel in view…Jesus didn’t stop with the twelve. In Luke 10 he commissioned seventy more people to heal and cast out demons (Luke 10:1, 9, 17). That number wasn’t not accidental. It’s the number of nations listed in Genesis 10 – the nations cast aside at the Tower of Babel event and placed under the dominion of lesser gods (Deut. 4:19-20; 32:8-9).

The Tower of Babel was a human attempt to build a Tower to channel their gods. It was a slap in the face to our God who created them. Every false religion and secret society have its roots in the Tower of Babel. From that moment on God divorced the rest of the world; he has had enough, but even as Israel betrayed him also, God honor his self-imposed covenants, and, to this day, God has not given up on Israel. Today God has expanded his covenant through the Church. God is not only focusing on one nation; this time He is on a mission to regain the world and redeem his creation.  That is our mission and great commission, to be a part of this reconstructive assignment as God work his way to get us back to Eden.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Mark 16:15 (ESV)
