Who are the Nephilim?
We can’t talk about the Nephilim without expanding a little further on the fallen angels. As you know by now, there a good and bad angel. Revelation 12:7-9 makes a good distinction.
Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.[1]
Satan and the angels who followed him were thrown right here on this earth. This explained why God said in Genesis 6:6, “And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.”[2]
We as humans were created right here in the middle of the evil action. Right here in the same place Satan and his fallen angels were thrown. Do you think for a minute that they were going to receive us with open arms? How do you think Satan and the fallen angels felt when they heard the news that we were destined to judge them one day? The apostle Paul tells us in First Corinthians 6:3, “Do you not know that we are to judge angels?[3]
The devil and his angels hate us with a passion. On top of that we experience something that the devil, his fallen angels nor the Nephilim will ever experience… MERCY! So, they are on a mission to corrupt and destroy us and, that is exactly what they have done since the beginning. The fall of Adam and Eve was just the beginning; Genesis 6 took us deeper into all iniquity. Genesis 6:1-4 tells us,
When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. 3 Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown. (ESV)
The Bible tells us very clearly that the “…Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward” Either Noah’s flood was not successful in killing them all or, the rest of the fallen angels repeated the genetic formula of angels having sex with women to continue to produce these evil monsters.
I am convinced that producing giants as they did in the Old Testament (Genesis 6:1-4) may it obvious to the rest of the world and also, they required too many resources to keep them alive. We read in the Old Testament that they were devouring men (Number 13:32). Enoch states that they ended up eating each other. So perhaps these Nephilim or, this genetic monster has gotten better.
The key is not their physical size, that is not relevant, the key is what Genesis 6:5 tells us regarding the content of their character, “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”[4]
Have you ever asked yourself how can some folks be so evil? Genesis 6:5 gives you the answer; they are evil continually; there is never any remorse; they enjoy evil. Beloved, these folks are amongst us. Jude tells us that during his time these things “crept in unnoticed.” (Jude 1:4). These genetic monsters are not eating people, drinking blood and so on like the Nephilim did. These things, who look like humans, are wearing the same clothing we are wearing, they are in ministry, they are leading worship, they are running a home group, some of them are elders, some are in the Board of Directors and some are pastors. Their job is to corrupt sound doctrine and give us all kinds of foolish teachings that are nowhere to be found in Scripture. They do this, in order to be able to distract us from the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and have us neglect the great commission.
Beloved, this explains how we look at so many bad doctrines and theologies accepted in churches unchallenged. These genetically corrupt beings are behind such corruption. Today more than ever we need believers with the gift of Discernment to be trained, to be mature and to have the freedom to move in the gift God has given them. First John 4:1-6 tells us,
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. 4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (ESV)
- We should not believe everybody in the church: No matter the title or how eloquent they may sound; there should always be a little naiveness in us. We should be able to ask questions and, if we are not able to ask question perhaps that is not our church.
- We should test the spirits of every person in the church, especially those in position of leadership: What we are testing is whether that person comes from God or from the devil. This test is actually not a complicated one: If that person does not have a clear confession of what represents for Jesus to come on this earth in the flesh and, a clear confession of their own salvation; they are not of God. If a person denies such confession, he/she is not from God, but belongs to the spirit of the antichrist. Let us remember, as we discussed before, that the world is filled with gods who rebelled against Jehovah. In Genesis 10 we see the world divided in 70 nations; all of those nations were given up by God to be ruled by other gods. These gods rebelled against God (Psalm 82). There was only one nation God directly ruled: Israel. Israel also betrayed God; but because of the Covenants Israel will be redeemed. Today there is a New Covenant and, through Christ all of the nations of the world have access to God’s redemption. The world (Secularism) is an open rejection of our God. That is why Christ tells us, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” First John 2:15 (ESV) Historically, the worst thing that happens to our churches is to have people in position of power who are not save; that is because, they are of this world and they are all about the agenda of the world and not of God.
- Whomever is from God listens to the apostolic teachings, whomever is not rejects the apostolic teachings: The spirit of the world rejects the gospel and rejects sounds doctrine. That is why these false prophets distract God’s people with a cluster of “revelation” that sounds deep, but is not found in Scripture. It is not a complicated thing; they are simply in error because what they teach contradicts Scripture. That is why what they teach is received with open arms by the world and by worldly folks in church.
