A Reflection on This Series

As I started this series I did not know where exactly I was going to go. I started with the idea of only talking about demons, but as I started writing, I realized that it was much more than demons. Dr. Michael S. Heiser has been such a blessing in my life through his books: Supernatural, The Unseen World, Demons and, Angels. For me, I don’t care about how famous or how well you write, I have to see that what you are saying comes out of Scripture… I am hungry for the truth. I know that it is the truth that will make me free (John 8:32).

Dr. Heiser is not coming up with new stuff; these things are in the Bible, they are clear. If we read these many verses without enslaving ourselves in traditions and denominations, our eyes will truly be open to a whole different way of looking at the Bible in context.

So far, I have no doubt that, Jehovah is the only God with the attributes that we all know 1) creator, 2) all knowing, 3) all mighty, 4) omnipresence, etc. We all know that there is a devil, the Adversary, Satan, formerly known as Lucifer, the snake the dragon, but at the end of the day, he is a god… the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Traditionally, we see Satan as a fallen angel, but as we look deeply, angel is a job description. I am human who is also a Case Manager. My wife is a human, who is also a Doctor and so on; you get the point. So, we need to look at angels in a whole different way; we will explore on this as we continue this series.

We have seen that there were gods who betrayed God as the nations started worshipping them and continue to do so today. Because of sin God divorced the rest of the world and placed these gods over these nations; but in Genesis 12 he raised a new nation, Israel, as he called one man, Abraham. To connect these dots, you can go back and read this series from the beginning, but better yet, read Genesis 10 in what is known as the Table of Nations, read Deuteronomy 32 and Psalm 82; Start there and go into the original language… it is not really hard to see and understand. As Dr. Heiser says, is in plain sight. You can also buy Dr. Heiser’s book that I mentioned earlier; they are worth every penny.

I am not clear about everything concerning the supernatural realm yet. I am able to see everything clear except the work of the fallen angels today. Are they fallen angels or gods? Enoch tells us that there were 200 hundred fallen angels involved in Genesis 6[1]. Even as the Bible don’t tell us a specific number of the angels that followed lucifer, one could assume that there were more than 200 hundred. Those particular angels in Genesis 6 are no longer around, at least for now, Enoch tells us of its leader, Azazel and the rest of the fallen angels involved in the iniquity of Genesis 6,

And again the Lord said to Raphael, “Bind Azazel hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness: and make an opening in the desert, which is Dudael, and cast him therein. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there forever, and cover his face that he may not see light. And on the day of the great judgment he shall be cast into the fire. And heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may not perish through all the secret things that the Watchers have disclosed and have taught their sons. And the whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azazel, to him ascribe all sin.” As it refers to the rest of the fallen angels, Enoch tells us: “…bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of judgment and of their consummation, till the judgment that is that is for ever and ever is consummated. In those days they shall be led off the abyss of fire and to the torment and the prison they shall be confined forever.[2]

So, we know that these particular angels are not around at this time. As we attempt to connect the dots, in our next article we will take a look at what the Bible has to say about the Abyss.

To be continued…
