If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.5 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
6 I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.7 Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
Psalm 130:3-8 (NIV)
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
8 He himself will redeem Israel
from all their sins.
This portion of Scripture, like many others, serve as a mirror of our own condition and struggles with sin. If God keeps record of all our sins… who can be found innocent? Our innocence is never based on our own righteousness; our innocence is based on the perfect sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This should take us to a place of humility.
Israel, like you and I, was not perfect either. Sadly, Israel betrayed God and went after other gods like the rest of the world. Nevertheless, God is promising full redemption; God is promising full forgiveness of sin. We can get a hold of that promise today and reject condemnation and regret. In our Lord we find unfailing love; the love that is unable to fail.
Oh, I know if you are like me, you have done many embarrassing things. If you are like me, you have suffered the torment of regret. But we must understand that our redemption is not in our hands or, in human hands; if that is so, we will never experience redemption. Our redemption is in God’s hands. He is willing and He is able! Beloved, embrace your full redemption today!
