I am still hanging on to the Word of God and the promise that the last will be first (Matthew 20:16). For the last 50 years we have had many democratic presidents and a whole democratic party who have been passionately fighting poverty for all these years. I am sure many of them fought and continued to fight with sincere hearts. Nevertheless, the fight, so far, has been a failure! What is it that we were left to celebrate after 8 years of our first black president? The facts were staring at our faces: a weak economy, a historical accumulation of debt, and record numbers of people that look like me who are on food stamps and other government assistant programs. I guess we were supposed to celebrate that! But I did not… I know that, with God’s help, we can do much better than that!
We, as a people, have a long way to go… I am aware of that! However, it is amazing to me that it is taking the policies of a “racist” president such as Donald Trump for us to enjoy such amazing statistics. During his campaign he challenge us by asking us, “what the h*** do you have to lose?” A year later, we are not celebrating that we have more of our people on food stamps, Medicaid and so on. These are times when we should be in great celebration for my Hispanic and African-American family. The unemployment rate amongst us is the lowest in over 50 years! Maybe, just maybe, we need more racist politicians in Washington!
People have their strong opinions regarding who they consider a good or bad president. Some say that Obama was one of the best presidents in the history of the universe. Others consider him a total failure. George W. Bush seems to inspire a lot of hate back during his time serving as Commander and Chief. Others have nothing but good things to say about him.
I have never had the privilege of meeting any president personally so I can’t judge their hearts, their goodness or evil intentions. What I can say is that a President is not a religious leader; he is a political leader and a commander… period! I am making an effort to focus on the numbers that count; that is, the size of the economy, job creation and an objective look at our budget as a nation (debt and surplus).Today, in our series dealing with the numbers that count, we are taking a look at the GDP and the unemployment rate.
When we talk about unemployment we speak about the heart of America. To be unemployed and unproductive is bad for every human being. God designed us with the ability to make our own living and to work. The dignity of having a job is fundamental for our families and our society in general. So lets talk about jobs. Let me start by saying that, as you can see in the chart below, no other President has created more jobs, per month, than President Clinton. Not much explanation is needed; these numbers are speaking loud and clear.
Before we continue, lets also take a look at the best GDP (Gross Domestic Products) average. The GDP is essential when speaking about the economy and jobs; that is because the GDP is essentially the level of our ability to buy and sell; it is what moves the economy. According the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA):
“GDP is one of the most comprehensive and closely watched economic statistics: It is used by the White House and Congress to prepare the Federal budget, by the Federal Reserve to formulate monetary policy, by Wall Street as an indicator of economic activity, and by the business community to prepare forecasts of economic performance that provide the basis for production, investment, and employment planning.”
There is no way around these numbers; they are easy to find and they are a reflection of every presidency. Policies will affect the economy and the ability to create jobs. “Under President Trump the US GDP has grown by more than $300 billion in just two quarters”.
There are some interesting numbers to look at in terms of unemployment. President Johnson had the lowest average unemployment rate across his presidency since 1948 at 4.2 percent. So far President Ford saw the highest average unemployment rate at over 7.8 percent, followed closely by President Reagan at over 7.5 percent. President Obama’s presidency saw an unemployment rate of 7.2 percent. His last year in the White House was his best with an average unemployment rate of 4.7 percent. So far under Trump, from January to July of this year, the average unemployment rate is 4.4 percent.
So, in the mix of all the turmoil, the people resigning and getting fired, the attacks, the back and forth between the president and the press, the protest and the accusations, etc. as we glance at the numbers that count, Trump economy and job reports are heading in the right direction. Love or hate, this is not my opinion these are real numbers.
I don’t think we have to hold a degree in political science to know that the political environment in our country is toxic. Everything that the other party says is automatically received as wrong by the other party; whether is good or bad it does not matter. It seems like politics is no longer about the business of the people, but about the destruction of characters.
Our current president, Donald Trump, openly confesses that he is a Christian. Many evangelicals supported him. However, I am increasingly concern with how he is representing us as Christians. Listen, I don’t deny that the liberal press and some in his own party are constantly attacking him in many ways, including personal. However, attacks on presidents come with the job, especially in the last 30 years. We can argue which president was scrutinize more or less, but it comes with the territory and, with social media, I predict that is going to get worst.
Let me go straight to the point of the purpose for this post. If the president wants to use Twitter to correct bad reporting from the press, I can understand that. If he wants to use Twitter to communicate his agenda and message directly to the American people, I can understand that also. However, is the president exempt from biblical mandates?
There is absolutely no biblical justification to what the press and Hollywood is doing to our president day in and day out. This “Resist” movement is birthed out of rebellion. Romans 13:1-2 tells us, “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.” (NIV)
God places those leaders, some as instruments of blessings, others for judgment! We see this pattern as we read through the book of Judges, First and Second Kings. Also, did we see Daniel disrespecting the secular kings he worked for? Did we see Joseph disrespecting Pharaoh? No, these men were faithful to their faith in God and also very respectful to the secular leaders they worked under. We can learn some valuable lessons from these two men. Our mandate, as Christians, even above voting, is to pray for our leaders according to First Timothy 2:1-3.
On the other hand, there is no biblical justification for our president’s midnight hour personal attacks. First Peter 3:8-10 tells us,
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For,
“Whoever would love life and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech. (NIV)
Just in case you need a second biblical reference, Paul also spoke on this matter by telling Timothy, “Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.” 2 Timothy 2:23 (NIV)
Mr. President, respectfully, let me advise you to focus on the Lord’s direction through prayer and wise council. To focus on protecting our nation, to make sure we have a strong military, to bring down this deficit, to bring down taxes, to deal with our health care issues, our future social security crisis, the war on poverty, the economy, get people back to work by creating a healthy environment for job creation, to reform the welfare system, etc. Let the numbers that count do the talking for you; unemployment rate, deficits, surpluses and the size of our economy. History will judge you on these numbers!
I am so glad that I am free and not married to any particular party. I am an Independent Conservative. I don’t look at parties; I look at what they stand for.
The following are some of President Obama’s numbers as it refers to his legacy. Make no mistake about it, I will, in about a year or two, compare these numbers with those that will be coming forth from President Trump. There are numbers in the human body that cannot be ignored. Some numbers are normal, some are at high levels and some are at risk levels. Some of these numbers that we need to pay special attention to are: our weight, our cholesterol levels, blood pressure, glucose levels, etc.
The older we get, the more serious these numbers become. To these numbers we must also add our mood; are we stress out? Are we depressed? Are we angry or frustrated all the time? These factors are important because they have the potential to affect our numbers. Now, we can walk around telling everybody how healthy we are, eating like we are 15 years of age, not exercising, eating fry food every day, drinking alcohol, not sleeping well and so on, but at the end of the day, those numbers do not lie; they will catch up with us, increase the possibility of stroke, heart attack and even death.
The same thing happens we our country; our country also have the numbers that count, the numbers that will truly tell us how healthy or unhealthy our nation is. People argue and defend their ideologies, the democrat party on one side, the republicans on the other, liberalism, conservatism, etc. Our current president speaks about his great legacy; republicans love to remember the years when Reagan was the president. But, what are our numbers? Well, we pay attention to economical growth, annual budgets, national debt, unemployment and its participation; in other words, how many people are actually looking for jobs and how many able bodies gave up looking for jobs; etc.
In the last eight years the annual budget was never balanced, in many cases, not even submitted. Our national debt is at 19 trillion dollars, millions of Americans are not even looking for jobs, we have a weak economical growth, etc. Judging by those numbers, the United States has high blood pressure, high cholesterol and her sugar levels are through the roof. America is stress out, angry, frustrated and very afraid. Say what you want, but our country is a high risk for a stroke or a heart attack. America is sick!
Now, with medication, proper diet and exercise we can normalize these numbers. With God’s help, we can be totally restored! We are going to have to place God and His righteousness first, we are going to have to be smart with our money, buy what we can afford, stop depending on the government and make, finding a job and making our own living, the dignifying way for our prosperity.
I have been praying for God to show mercy to our nation; to give this generation a chance to see how true prosperity looks like, to see this nation winning and the blessing of lives surrendering to the Lord. I have hope that things will get better; that the numbers will improve, but most of all, that the mood of this nation will improve also. We must or, we will suffer a tragic and sudden death for refusing to pay attention to the numbers that count; the numbers that continue to clearly tells us that we are, at this point, a very unhealthy nation.
Hillary is now on the hot seat as the FBI decided to reopen her investigation over some new findings; last week and the week before it was Trump on that same hot set. Politics today is no longer about ideas, hardcore policies, etc. it is all about exposing and bringing out dirt.
All these October surprises are evidence of a corrupt press; they are manipulating information for the sake of ratings and for the sake of supporting their own candidates. I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of any objective news network in America. We want to talk about Hillary Clinton’s corruption and Trump lies, what about the media corruption? The press is trying to manipulate our minds, telling us how and what to think. Laws need to be change or, if laws are already in the books they need to be reinforce. This obvious bias MUST go!
This media bias is what is indeed killing this nation because they have become instruments of lies. Fox, for example likes to use the slogan, “We report, you decide”, but that can’t be further from the truth when in the mix of their news they have Sean Hannity and Megyn Kelly advancing their personal agendas. CNN slogan is “The most trusted name in news.” Are you serious? Who believes that?
I encourage you to look at Hillary and Trump, look at their history, their record, what they said then and what they are saying now. Make a decision base on your own intelligent conclusions, not base on what your mother or grandmother say and most of all, not base on what the corrupt media of the United States is saying.
Liberals offended over moral issues, is like puertorricans offended over eating rice and beans and like a cowboy offended over riding a horse. Liberals offended over moral issues is like an Italian offended over eating pasta or a Mexican over eating burritos; like a white man from the countryside of the United States, offended over his guns and his Bible. Liberals offended over moral issues is like a Snoop Doggie Dog offended over profanity and the use of the “N’ word, like Beyoncé offended over black women publicly showing their butts and tits.
Liberals are the cancer of morality, the inspiration of hypocrisy and an evil ideology that was on the wrong side of history, specifically, concerning the atrocity of slavery and the civil rights’ fight. Liberalism is the mother of socialism. Liberalism is disgusted by Godliness; but embraces everything else outside of Christ. The same liberals that passionately promote same sex marriage here in America, seems to be silent against the brutality of the homosexual communities under the Islamic faith. They twist and turn the truth, even God’s truth, to advance their agenda.
Liberals would protect a monkey in Africa, an alligator in Florida and a bear in Alaska, but can care less about a baby in the womb of his mother. No, I am not talking about a democrat; I am talking about liberals. Liberalism is bad in the Democratic Party, is bad in the Republican Party and is bad in any party. Liberalism is bad in every continent of the world, is bad in the family, is bad in the church, the workplace and in schools. Liberalism is so bad, so terrible and so unrealiable that it can’t even be trusted in our bathrooms.
Make no mistake about this. On November 8th some will speak loud and clear as they vote for Hillary. Others will speak as loud and give their vote to Trump. Some will speak even louder and refuse to vote, out of personal conviction or old-fashioned tiredness.
Some Blacks and Latinos will stay home and communicate to the Democratic Party that they are tired of only being remembered every four years. They will communicate that they are no longer satisfied with simply being given fish from government programs. They will communicate that they prefer to get their own fish and not stop there; they plan to eventually own the lake.
Some conservatives will also stay home as they have felt not only the expected rejection and mockery of the left, but also the rejection and mockery of their own party. There absence will speak volumes.
Some Christians will also stay home and communicate very passionately that earning their vote will require more than quoting 2 Corinthians 3:17.
I heard a 10-year-old prophecy report that Hillary would give her life to the Lord and be used by God mightily. I have heard others stating that Trump is a baby Christian. I surely hope for the salvation of these two; but my Bible tells me that we shall know them by their fruit. (Matt 7:16-20)
In the end, God will give America a new leader. At that time, we will see if that new leader will be an instrument of God’s blessing over this nation or a weapon of His judgment. No matter what minorities, Liberals, Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, the white majority or even Christians do or do not do, we are about to see God’s will for this nation in a matter of days. (Rom 13:1)
This nation has turned her heart against God. The leaders that we have running now are a reflection of our value system and of us as a nation. If God is judging this nation, like he did with Israel many times, I pray that this nation finds her way back to God and cries out to Him like never before in our history. If God releases an instrument of blessing in the white house it is only because by His love and by His mercy as He prepares the church for a harvest of souls. Either way let not your heart be trouble (John 14:1)
In a time when we had far less camera coverage and television; before cell phones and selfies, Martin Luther King used the power of the video camera to expose the ugly face of racism, hate and injustice. It was a painful and humiliating fight that eventually cost him his own life, however, no other fight against racism has been more effective and has indeed accomplished more. Martin Luther King understood that only light drives out darkness. Even as racism continues to be a reality in our nation today, it is no longer politically correct to be a racist; that is, thanks to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.
The video cameras recorded the vulgar language and the evil philosophy of the white man against the black race. Racism existed in a far worst fashion than today! It was open, unashamed and widely accepted as the norm. We witnessed high ranked political figures, police officers and sheriffs referring to our people as “niggers” on national television. They did not lose their jobs, but were held as heroes! The cameras showed it all, not as a movie or television show, but as something real.
The cameras showed how black men were beaten, pushed around, sucker punched, and pushed down by the pressure of firefighter’s water hoses. The whole world saw how the white man did not even pull back their hatred against the black woman and the black child. The same white man who opened the car doors for the white lady and who removed his hat in her presence; did not have any problem addressing our black women like animals and calling our children “little niggers.”
Do you remember the first time you heard your voice on a voice recording? Do you remember how you felt when you first saw yourself on video? The cameras shook the conscience of our nation; as our nation was able to see, for the first time, how hate looks like on T.V. Some white folks were uninvolved, some did not see anything wrong, but were transformed and had an immediate change of heart when they saw hate on prime time T. V. We must remember that some of our white brothers and sisters died for the cause of freedom too.
Many more cameras are rolling today than in the 50s and 60s. But what do we see now? Do we see excessive force? Yes we do! Are the cameras showing police brutality; not always, but enough to be an issue. Police officers are held by higher standards; they exist to protect us. When we have an off day at work, well, we sacrifice somebody’s paper work. When a police officer has an off day, maybe, just maybe, somebody will die that day! The cameras are showing one too many cases of officers disregarding life and taking a life without considering other options or other levels of appropriate force. The cameras are there to judge the unjustifiable from the justifiable.
I know, I know, some reading this article will bring up the statistics, the streets of Chicago and the fact that more black men are dying at the hands of other black men. Oh I know; the number of white police officers intervening with blacks is enormous compared to the little percent that ends up in a shootings and more less deaths. The issue that I have is that perhaps we are missing the value of one soul; perhaps we are bringing down the value of life. My bible tells me that everything in this world can’t compare to the value of a single soul (Matthew 16:26 / Mark 8:36). I am not endorsing the Black Lives Matter in any way; I believe that is led by a bunch of hateful and confuse kids; but the soul of a black man is as valuable as any other soul; so one unjust killing is one too many.
But what is it that the cameras are showing today? Can we hear the eloquence of Dr. Martin Luther King and his followers in the black voices of today? Malcolm X had a more aggressive speech, as aggressive as it got during those dangerous days; but was he making sense? Malcolm X and Martin Luther King had two different styles of fighting, but neither one of them were enticing ignorance. Malcolm X advocated for self-defense; if you mess with him, he was ready to retaliate back with whatever means necessary. Dr. King was a cry for love, for peace, reconciliation and unity. His message was sealed with his blood.
The cameras today are showing a whole different story. The cameras are showing us destroying businesses, stealing from our own people and disrespecting even those officers who are doing their jobs lawfully. The cameras are showing how we are disrespecting each other, destroying the very neighborhoods we grew up in; how we are more eager for violence than for facts and truth. On live television, for the whole world to see, the cameras are showing our ignorance as we attempt to fight darkness with more darkness.
This fight is ineffective and destructive, and will, at the end, accomplish nothing for the betterment of our people and of our nation. The cameras today are showing a nation in trouble; a nation infected with bitterness; a nation filled with unforgiveness on one side and historical myopias on the other; a nation who worships and honors the founding fathers, but closes their eyes to our historical injustices, a nation more enraged about men not standing for our national anthem than for those whom are unjustly gunned down. Something is wrong when we are selective in what tragedies to never forget and honor and what lives matter and what lives do not.
This is a nation of policies and procedures. When something goes wrong, policies and procedures are expected to change; but when a life is unjustly gunned down by a police officer, we make excuses; “nobody is perfect”; “officers make mistakes too” and so on.
The narrative of “hands up, don’t shoot” is based on a lie; facts confirm that; but can we take responsibility for a man who is being physically restrained by multiple trained officers and expresses several times that he can’t breath? Can we take a look at that one? Those who always see the police, in every case, no matter what, in the right, are wrong! And those who see blacks in the right, no matter what, are wrong also.
I challenge you to look at the camera, what is it that the camera is saying? Can you be objective? Kids disrespecting police officers, officers killing innocent people; case by case, one by one, what do you see? The cameras are showing who we are, what we have become. This is America today! The cameras are rolling!
It looks like this presidential election is going to be between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The question is, are Christians obligated to vote? To start answering that question we must first ask ourselves, is this political system approved by God? The answer is “NO”. The political system approved by God establishes HIM as the clear KING and, a human leader as a judge. (Book of Judges).
When the nation of Israel asked for a king the request was highly offensive to God; the people were actually rejecting God. (1 Samuel 8). Even after God warned them of the negative consequences of having a government rule by a king, the people insisted in having a king. So God gave the people what they wanted; however He still found a way to release His blessing through Godly kings who listened to His prophets.
Eventually that political system did what God said was going to do; abused the people and rebelled against God. What we have today is a political system that is even further away from God’s will.
I have voted in all elections since becoming a Christian, and I have never advocated not voting; however, this election is different. You think Trump is a Christian? Think again and keep watching; when you gather his fruit show it to me. On the other hand, I don’t think I have to spend too much time convincing you that Hillary’s lies are well documented.
Beloved, don’t let anybody manipulate you into voting. We as Christians are not obligated to vote or be involved in the political system and, if there is a year that justifies for Christians not to vote is this one. Our obligation is to God and to God alone. We have an obligation to pursue holiness, to study and apply God’s Word in our lives and to preach the Gospel. Our trust is in God, not on Hillary or Trump; no human being has the capacity to turn this nation around; don’t let them fool you!
I do understand that the president is not a part of the clergy of a nation; nevertheless these two candidates are so far away from our values as Christians that a vote for them is a direct compromise of our faith. I insist that we, as Christians, are not called to change the world; the world will get worst and eventually collapse according to Revelation 18. We are called to change lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
