“Living the Christian Life”

Why do you think that one of the signs of the last days is that the good will seems bad and the bad will seem like good? Because we want to accommodate our evil desires; we want approval for doing things our way. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 4:3-4

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”

            Beloved, we are at a time where in many of our local churches and homes we are preaching a different Gospel. We are dancing with ignorance and playing naïve. We are saying: “Amen!” to heresy as we minimize the integrity of God’s Word. It is an amazing thing to me that after the Word of God is read in the midst of an argument and the truth is reveal over a matter using the Word, people will still have a “But.” Why do you have to add a “but” after the Word shows you the truth? This is what the Bible tells us to do with those that come into our churches and homes to preach a different Gospel:

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Trying to please men will always disqualify us from being servants of Christ. The Word of God will always disturb sinners’ emotions and will always take a Christian who insists on sinning to a place of either returning or dangerously falling further away. The Word of God cuts no corners; there is no middle ground; either you’re in or you’re out.

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

Let me also make this point very clear; we are not to address the sin of the world; our evangelical responsibility is to be “witnesses” of what God has done and is doing. Our job is not to be lawyers. We are not called to defend God’s cause, as it refers to the Gospel, engaging in arguments with the world (like God needs our help). We can’t save anybody; our job is to plant seeds and only God can cause that seed to grow. The Bible tells us that we are all saved by grace through faith. The Bible tells us that Jesus is our attorney. We are not called to be prosecutors. Our job is not to accuse; the devil is the accuser of the Bride. And, we are definitely not judges; that position is already taken, it belongs to God the Father. However, we ought to be passionate about confronting false prophets and false teachers among us. We also have a responsibility to confront the sin in our own camp.
